Eversheds Sutherland Bitāns team advised the largest telecommunications operator in Latvia SIA Latvijas Mobilais Telefons (LMT) in connection with the acquisition transaction, as a result of which LMT acquired a 100% share in the Baltic data transmission network and IT security solutions group Santa Monica Networks. The acquisition was completed in May this year, but already in July the Latvian Competition Council decided to grant a merger permit for this transaction in Latvia. In September the regulatory clearances were obtained from all relevant regulatory authorities also in Lithuania. Our team provided full legal support for the merger transaction by conducting in-depth legal research, preparing the transaction documentation, as well as submitting the documentation to the Latvian Competition Council. Our team in the acquisition consisted of Senior Partner Māris Vainovskis, Of Counsel Vadims Čabans, Senior Associate Aigars Gozītis and Lawyer Liene Lelde Rieba, while the Competition Law team – Senior Associate Gunta Lokastova and Associate Dmitrijs Ņemirovskis - provided support in competition law issues. About LMT: LMT is the largest mobile communications operator in Latvia with the most extensive customer service network. Being an undoubted innovations leader, the LMT offers its customers a complete range of high-quality telecommunication services: voice communications, high-speed unlimited mobile Internet, as well as mobile TV LMT Straume and LMT Smart TV.
